Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kabul

Arrive in Kabul, the historic capital of Afghanistan, where centuries of history meet the rhythm of daily life. After meeting our local team, you will be transferred to your hotel and given an Afghan outfit to blend with the local culture. For those who arrive early, enjoy an afternoon city tour, including Bibi Mahru Hills, the Bird Market, Babur’s Garden, and a visit to the Kabul Museum.
Overnight in Kabul.

Spend a full day exploring Kabul’s cultural and historical highlights. Visit the Sakhi Shrine, a sacred Shia Muslim site, stroll through the vibrant Bird Market, visit the serene Babur Garden, climb Flag Hill for panoramic city views, and explore the War Museum, gaining insight into Afghanistan’s rich and complex history. Overnight in Kabul.

Drive from Kabul to Bamyan, taking in Afghanistan’s scenic landscapes along the way. In Bamyan, explore the Buddha Niches and climb for a closer view of the monumental carvings. Visit the archaeological site of Shahr-e Zuhak (Red City) and Shahr-e Gholghola (‘City of Screams’), where historical events shaped the region centuries ago.

Start the day with a visit to Bamyan’s bazaar and viewpoint, overlooking the Buddha Niches and the remnants of Russian tanks. Then, take a day trip to the Band-e Amir Lakes, Afghanistan’s stunning series of deep blue lakes, famous for their natural beauty. Return to Bamyan for the evening. Overnight in Bamyan.

Drive or fly from Bamyan/Kabul to Mazar-i-Sharif. Spend the afternoon exploring the city, visiting the Blue Mosque (Shrine of Hazrat Ali), one of Afghanistan’s most significant religious sites, adorned with stunning blue tiles. Overnight in Mazar-i-Sharif.

Spend the day visiting the ancient Silk Road city of Balkh, historically known as Bactria. Discover its deep history as the birthplace of Zoroaster and home to legendary Persian poet Rumi. Explore the stupas, the Blue Tiled Shrine of Khoja Parsa, and the 9th-century No Gumbad Mosque, witnessing the city’s rich Islamic and Buddhist heritage. Overnight in Mazar-i-Sharif.

Early morning drive to Samangan Province to visit the historic stupa Takht-e Rostam, a remarkable Buddhist archaeological site. Continue the long drive back to Kabul, passing through the Salang Tunnel, a major Soviet-era engineering achievement completed in 1967.

Drive from Kabul to Ghazni (around 2.5 hours). Visit historical landmarks including the Two Minarets of Ghazni, Bala Hissar of Ghazni, the Tomb of Hakim Sanae, and the Tomb of King Mahmud Ghaznavi. After lunch, return to Kabul for the evening. Overnight in Kabul.

On your final day, explore Chicken Street, famous for Afghan handicrafts, carpets, and souvenirs. Enjoy some last-minute shopping before being transferred to the airport for your departure.
