Women-Only Cultural Journey through Afghanistan

Overview

This is a women-only group tour, designed exclusively for 7 female travelers. The trip focuses on cultural experiences, daily life, and history, with visits to bazaars, historical sites, and women-run cafés and shops. You will have the chance to interact with Afghan women and better understand their lives, traditions, and roles in society. The tour is organized as a small group to keep it comfortable, safe, and well-paced, allowing meaningful experiences without rushing. It is ideal for women who want a cultural, respectful, and insight-focused journey through Afghanistan.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Kabul

Welcome to Kabul, Afghanistan’s historic capital. Upon arrival, meet our local team and transfer to your hotel for a short briefing. You will be provided with an Afghan traditional outfit, allowing you to dress modestly, blend in with locals, and feel more comfortable during the journey. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a gentle introduction to the city with visits to Bibi Mahru Hill for panoramic views, the Bird Market, Babur’s Garden, the final resting place of the Mughal emperor, and the National Museum of Afghanistan.
Overnight in Kabul.

Early morning, take a domestic flight to Mazar-e-Sharif, the northern jewel of Afghanistan. Upon arrival, explore the ancient city of Balkh, visiting the Haji Payenda Mosque, Rabia Balkhi’s Tomb, and the historic Citadel of Balkh. Conclude the day with a visit to the famous Blue-Tiled Mosque of Hazrat Ali, also known as the Blue Mosque, an architectural masterpiece.
Overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Travel by road from Kabul to Bamiyan, passing mountain scenery, valleys, and traditional villages. In Bamiyan, explore the famous Buddha Niches, once home to monumental statues carved into the cliffs. Continue to the archaeological ruins of Shahr-e Zuhak, also known as the Red City, and Shahr-e Gholghola, the City of Screams, powerful reminders of Bamiyan’s ancient past.

Begin the day with a visit to Bamiyan’s local bazaar and a viewpoint overlooking the Buddha Niches and the surrounding valley. Later, travel to Band e Amir National Park, Afghanistan’s first national park and one of its most beautiful natural sites. Spend the day exploring the striking deep blue lakes, formed by natural mineral dams, before returning to Bamiyan in the evening.

Travel from Bamiyan to Kabul and continue onward to Mazar i Sharif by road or domestic flight, depending on conditions. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Blue Mosque, also known as the Shrine of Hazrat Ali, a major spiritual center famous for its blue tiled architecture and peaceful courtyards.

Explore the ancient city of Balkh, once a major center on the Silk Road and historically known as Bactria. Learn about its deep cultural layers as the birthplace of Zoroaster and home to the poet Rumi. Visit the remains of ancient stupas, the Shrine of Khoja Parsa, and the ninth century No Gumbad Mosque, one of Afghanistan’s oldest Islamic structures.
Overnight in Mazar i Sharif.

Depart early for Samangan Province to visit Takht e Rostam, a unique Buddhist stupa carved directly into rock. Continue the long but scenic drive back to Kabul via the Salang Tunnel, a remarkable Soviet era engineering project cutting through the Hindu Kush mountains.

Take a day trip to Ghazni, once the capital of the powerful Ghaznavid Empire. Visit the historic Minarets of Ghazni, the Bala Hissar citadel, the Tomb of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni, and the shrine of renowned poet Hakim Sana i. Return to Kabul in the evening.

On your final day, enjoy time at Chicken Street, known for Afghan handicrafts, jewelry, carpets, and souvenirs. After some relaxed shopping and farewells, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
